Features implemented or bugfix since V0.52:
1, FIXME: BSOD with VHD/VHDX mounting on Win8
2, FIXME: Mke2fs failed to format mounted EXT2 volumes
3, Enable writing with global or volume ext3-force-writing
4, Support ext4 dir hash (UNSIGNED cases for legacy/half_md4/tea)
5, Fixed several warnings reported by scan.coverity.com
Supported Ext3/4 features by 0.53:
1, flexible inode size: > 128 bytes, up to block size
2, dir_index: htree directory index
3, filetype: extra file mode in dentry
4, large_file: > 4G files supported
5, sparse_super: super block backup in group descriptor
6, uninit_bg: fast fsck and group checksum
7, extent: reading, writing with no extending.
8, journal: only support replay for internal journal
9, flex_bg: first flexible metadata group
Unsupported Ext3/4 features:
1, journal: log-based operations, external journal
2, extent: size truncating & expanding, file deletion
3, EA (extended attributes), ACL support
4, symlink creation
Features to be implemented in next release:
1, full EXT4 extent feature support (extending, shrinking)
2, mounted as user: privilege checking with given uid & gid

Hi,
sorry but, i think that ext2fsd not works on w2k8 x64 box, after installation (setup with exe) disk (vm vmdk) can be used; but, after umount, the next time disk cannot be mounted again: system says “unformatted volume” and ext2fsd “service” is started, or better ext2mgr is started, no real service is istalled or visible in “services mmc”…
I’ve unistalled it, and downloaded the “7z format” but, inside of package there is no driver for my platform/architecture! Because there is no folder named “whl” called in the setup.bat script..!

Ok, if I create folder “whl” and use .sys file of the previous version, all works fine! Please, make a new installer and also 7z file!!

Thank you very much for updating Ext2Fsd! Now my ext4 partition seems to automatically mount with write enabled! Finally! That bug was really annoying.

I have the Chinese format files and folders in the linux ext3 format as a data disk. Once I set the codepage to utf8 and also selected “mountpoint for fixed disk” in the column of “ext2/ext3 volume settings” and after reboot the system Win7 the codepage returned back to the Default setting not utf8. Then with the problem that the Chinese words could not show correctly with the wrong code format. For Chinese utf8 is the right format but back to Default was problem. I tried many times but still with the same problem. Was this a bug? I sincerely to hear from you. Anyway this is a very great program. Thank you very much for your great work.

Thanks for keeping this project alive! Is it just me or is not working with doxbox (freeotfe-replacement -https://github.com/t-d-k/doxbox)? – Cant select the drive-letter assigned by doxbox when opening an ext4-luks-volume…

Thank you very much for updating to 0.53! I still have an annoying problem: I cannot delete files.
Or to better say…
If, after booting, I copy a new file to an ext4 partition, copying works and I can delete the file.
If I try to delete an already existing file in the ext4 partition win7 says the file is opened in another program.
And also if I try to move a file (created in win7) from one ext4 partition to another, it onbly works if the file was newly created; if it’s already in the particion before booting I can’t move it.

Pass advanced mount parameters?
I have a Seagate Central drive that I’m trying to recover the data from; it looks like you just need to tell it that it’s an Ext2 partition –

But your can’t pass parameters to the mount program, and the drive is “Raw” in the mount manager…

May I ask what the issues are that prevent LVM support currently – after doing some HDD wrangling on my new (second-hand) PC to get Win7 to grudgingly share a Hard Disk with a Debian install I went on to use LVM to manage my Linux partitions except for /boot and /root. I’d previously used Ext2fsd on other machine and only came to realise the current lack of coverage for Linux Volume Management partitions when I went to grab some stuff I’d downloaded onto /home whilst using my preferred OS. π
I suppose I ought to be glad I hadn’t chosen to encrypt my /home as I wanted to, that could have confused the issue even more…!

I keep running into a problem though. Win7 x64, ext4 Partition >2TB. I can create a 3TB Partition with Paragon, for example, but when I fill it with data, as soon as the data reaches the 2TB barrier, the partition goes poof and Windows freezes. Is this a driver limitation, because I cannot find any info on that?

Does item 2 from the EXT2FSD web site mean a Windows user with user priviledges can run EXT2FSD in the next release? Admin. rights no longer needed?
